Its been a few years since this trip so the details are a bit fuzzy. Suffice to say we had a good trip and caught a few mahi mahi, barracude, and spanish mackeral. Highlight of the day was what I'm told was a 40 lb mahi mahi. I'm even featured in one of the website photos holding the fish! Capt Yustas personally picked us up at the resort and took us to his boat. We ate one of the smaller mahi mahi at a beachside restaurant near the boat after our trip. Mahi mahi and El Presidente beer on the beach make for a happy vacation. Would definitely look up Capt Yustas if you're in the area.

Mexican vacation 2020 was cut short due to Corona Virus but we were able to fulfill our appointment with Capt. Pete on the Dos Amigos. We booked an 8-hr trip which included some whale watching and fishing. First thing when we got on the boat, Capt Pete informed of our "missions" for the day. Either fill the cooler with fish or drink all the beer on the boat. Capt. Pete wasn't our captain that day but his hands Louise and Superstar Ramone were great. On the ride out, I sat on the flybridge with Louise and he explained the water around us, what we were seeing on the graph, and where we would be fishing. I chose to do some trolling for marlin or whatever else over "action". We tried for a marlin, but even though we saw a few lolling around on the surface were unable to hook up. With a couple hours left in the day we went for some "action" and caught a couple Bonito and spanish mackerel, which was great because we wanted something to take back to the resort to eat that night. We've booked charters in other locales and this one has been the best yet. We had no problem communicating....Louis and Ramone speak very good english even though they think they don't. Ramone made fresh ceviiche on the boat and it's mucho bueno! Oh yeah, we also saw whales, dolphins.....and drank all the beer on the beer on the boat! We'll be fishing with Capt Pete again this March since we have a voucher for our unused vacation days. Dang, we have to go back.

We knew we were moving our middle daughter to Grand Rapids from North Dakota for school at some point, we just weren't sure of the date. I decided that since we were driving that far I would treat myself to a salmon charter. Once we found out the date, I started making calls to see if I could get on a boat. With less than a month before the move date, I didn't have high hopes of finding anything. Contacted a few but everybody was booked up. Sent an email to Big Weenie and Capt. Jeremy responded shortly after with his phone number to call him. After explaining the situation, Capt. Jeremy scheduled my wife and I for a morning charter on his personal boat (he has a regular charter boat he owns, and his own boat that he uses for tournament fishing and a few charters). We made arrangements to meet early on the morning of the charter since the best bite was right at sunrise (we were the first boat out of the marina, I believe). Capt. Jeremy and deck hand Brooks had lines out before it was light out and our first fish in the boat shortly after. We caught lake trout, a coho, a steelhead, and a king on our trip. Capt. Jeremy and Brooks worked hard to put on us the fish and switching baits out to get the bites. Was very happy with the trip, the boat, and the crew. Special thanks to Capt. Jeremy for getting us out on short notice. I'll be looking him up when we visit again!
